Master of Science in Civil & Environmental Engineering

Our Master of Science in Civil & Environmental Engineering provides interdisciplinary coursework designed to increase the understanding and application of engineering principles. All of our program faculty possess expertise in transportation, geo-technology, structures, water resources, and the environment. Courses include applied, hands-on education, and build the knowledge and training needed for students to contribute to the engineering field.

Interdisciplinary areas include mechanics and materials, and sustainability. This specialization also includes the following focus areas: Mechanics and Materials; Signals, Systems and Computational Intelligence; Sustainability; and Transportation Engineering.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

  • Completed foundation courses
  • Eligible applicants must have successfully completed the following undergraduate foundation courses at an accredited institution prior to admission:
    • Physics I
    • Calculus I
    • Calculus II
    • Calculus II
    • Linear Algebra
    • Differential Equations
    • At least one of the following:
      • Physics II
      • Chemistry I
      • Probability & Statistics
  • $65 (U.S.) non-refundable application fee
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program OR Bachelor's degree in the Science or Mathematics disciplines from an accredited institution of higher learning (The graduate program advisor will assess the background of the applicant and evaluate their suitability for admission to the program)
  • Official transcripts from all colleges attended (regardless of number of credits earned)
  • Current professional resume
  • Typewritten statement of professional objectives
    • Provide reasons for pursuing the program. Describe how you might use this program to advance your career (educational goals beyond the master's level, if applicable, are also relevant).
  • Two letters of recommendation
    • Letters of recommendation should be from professional administrators and include information which attests to applicant's ability to pursue a graduate degree
  • Minimum undergraduate cumulative GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale)
  • Optional Interview (If an interview is required, students will be contacted directly by the Faculty Admissions Committee regarding the interview. The interview can be in person or via telephone.)
  • The graduate program advisor may specify additional required undergraduate-level coursework to supplement the applicant's background before taking any graduate courses.
