Specialist in Education (EDs) in Advanced Studies in Leadership with Career and Technical Education

The Specialist in Education degree program in Career and Technical Education is designed to broaden the candidate’s knowledge in the field, allow for career and salary advancement, and/or to prepare candidates to direct or coordinate CTE programs at the secondary or post-secondary level. Candidates for the degree must hold a master’s degree in a CTE or technical field in addition to the requirements for the specialist degree. This degree does not meet the Kansas district level licensure requirements for Superintendents and other Central office personnel. The Specialist in Education degree may be used to develop specialization in an area to support a following doctoral program, or it may be considered as a terminal professional degree. Candidates who plan to pursue a doctoral program should check with the university where they plan to attend as to their transfer policy. Some universities will not transfer Ed.S. credit for a doctoral degree as they consider it a terminal degree.
