Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (Honours)

Occupational therapy is about the health and rehabilitation of people of all ages. Those who need specialised help – due to physical, development, social or emotional challenges – to lead independent, productive and satisfying lives. Get hands-on experience and 1,000 hours in a professional practice.

Accidents happen. People get sick. Sometimes circumstances just get in the way of living a full life. As an Occupational Therapist, you can help give people their lives back. Western's Bachelor of Occupational Therapy is among the top programs in Australia. To meet the fieldwork guidelines of the World Federation of Occupational Therapists, you’ll be given hands-on experience and 1,000 hours in a professional practice. And if you decide not to go on to be an OT, you have the option of graduating with a Bachelor of Health Science after three years.

Post Study Work Steam Renames to Post Higher Education Work Steam.

  • Bachelor degree holders including honours can get upto 2 years of post study stay
  • Master by course work and extended (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 2 years
  • Masters by research (with a duration exceeding 2 years) and PhD holder can stay upto 3 years
  • The Maximum eligible age to apply for PSW will be reduced to 35 years of age from 50 years of age for all applicants

Due to the Australian Indian Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement signed by the 2 countries, according to which:

  • Indian students completing bachelor degree including honours can stay upto 2 years
  • Bachelor degree with First class honours in STEM including ICT can stay upto 3 years
  • Masters by coursework in extended researched (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 3 years
  • PhD students can stay upto 4 years

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

Indian Higher Secondary School Certificate (State Boards)

  • Successful completion of Higher Secondary Certificate with a pass of 70% in best 4 core subjects

All India School Certificate (CBSE)

  • Successful completion of AISCE (CBSE) with an overall GPA of 60% in the best 4 core subjects

Indian School Certificate (ISC)

  • Successful completion of ISCE with an overall GPA of 60% in the best 4 core subjects

Nepal

  • Nepalese Higher Secondary Certificate with a grade of 80% (Year 11+12) (pre-2018) or Nepalese Education Board Year 12 with GPA 2.9 in best 4 academic subjects or Nepalese Proficiency Certificate (10+3) with an average grade of 75% and Nurses Registration (Nursing only)

Sri Lanka

  • Sri Lankan GCE with an aggregate of 3^ from best 3 academic subjects or Edexcel GCE ‘A’ Level examination with a score of 6# from 3 ‘A’ Level academic subjects
