LLM Law

If you’re looking to become a solicitor or barrister, you’ll need a recognised law qualification. The full-time LLM in Law offered by the University of Bolton’s School of Law is suitable for law graduates, non-law graduates, and practicing lawyers.

Our challenging but supportive environment gives you the chance to acquire postgraduate legal skills from a team of tutors with specialist knowledge and close links to the legal profession.

You’ll have the opportunity to explore the law’s key themes and focus your studies on areas of personal and professional interest, ranging from corporate and finance law through to employment law, intellectual property law, European law, international law, and medical law.

The programme is designed to provide intellectually-stimulated course content underpinned by internationally recognised research. By the end of the course, you will have had the opportunity to develop key transferable skills that are in demand in both legal and non-legal careers worldwide.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

Postgraduate
Completion of a 4 year degree with upper second class (55%) from a recognised University
Completion of a 3 year bachelors degree with grades of 65% or above from a recognised University

Where Evidence of English Language proficiency is required, we currently accept the following qualifications for admission onto our courses at degree level or above:

GCSE/O-Level in English from a UK awarding body grade C
IELTS (Academic) 6.0 for Undergraduate (no less than 5.5 in any component)
IELTS (Academic) 6.0 for Postgraduate (no less than 5.5 in any component)
Irish Leaving Certificate Ordinary Level English grade C/C3 or above
Irish Leaving Certificate Higher Level English grade D/D2 or above
IGCSE English as a First Language grade C
IGCSE English as a Second Language grade C
Internet based TOEFL with an overall score of 72 for Undergraduate, 79 for Postgraduate including 17 in Listening, 20 in Writing, 18 in Reading and 18 in Speaking
International Baccalaureate (Standard Level grade 5/Higher Level grade 4 in English)
Cambridge Advanced English grade C (minimum of “weak” in all four components (listening, reading, speaking and writing)
