Master of Health (Research) (135JA.3)
If you’re an experienced graduate of a health-related discipline and looking to evaluate and explore the evidence for practice, develop and conduct health research, then the Master of Health (Research) is the course that will help you gain the qualifications to be recognised as a research specialist.
This course is available either as a research-only pathway, or a coursework and research program. It can be taken as an intensive 2- year course, or part-time online course. Each research project will be planned, developed and carried out under the supervision of a leading academic or industry partner in the field.
This course is designed specifically to help you develop the critical research skills and experience needed to research the health field of your choice.
Upon completion of this course, you will have written and produced a thoroughly researched and documented a research paper or thesis and have it made available for presentation purposes and peer review.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
Candidates wishing to apply for the Master of Health (Research) must show evidence of the following:
- Recognised undergraduate health sciences degree at honours level or
- Recognised health science degree and health experience, with demonstrated capacity and/or aptitude for research.
- Approval of your study plans with a supervising academic.
- Two or more years of relevant work experience in health would be an advantage. If you have no prior research training, we would advise undertaking the combined coursework/research training option in the course.
Additional admission requirements
Students commencing in semester 2 can enrol part-time only.
Candidates are also required to complete a Research Education Program that will enable them to acquire the generic skills and attributes identified as appropriate for graduates of postgraduate research programs at the University of Canberra.
