Bachelor of International Studies

This course examines the relationship of nations, cultures, languages and systems of government within the international system.

International Studies provides you with the diverse skills and knowledge needed to meet the changes in societies, governments and businesses. It develops your capacity to analyse the historical development of relations among nation states and contemporary political, social and cultural issues, such as globalisation, transnationalism and migration. You will be able to combine studies from a range of discipline areas, including Asian and Islamic Studies, cultural and social analysis, history, politics and philosophy, and modern languages (Chinese, Japanese, Indonesian or Arabic). The course provides for one semester study abroad during three years of full-time.

The major in International Relations and Asian Studies has been designed to meet the needs of Australian government, business and society to engage the states and peoples of Asia at all levels in pursuit of national interests and as part of the globalisation process. It will provide you with the opportunity to study contemporary Asia, as well as the rich and diverse histories, politics, cultures and languages of Asian countries. You will also understand the international issues affecting Australia’s interests and role in the region and in the world at large.

Post Study Work Steam Renames to Post Higher Education Work Steam.

  • Bachelor degree holders including honours can get upto 2 years of post study stay
  • Master by course work and extended (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 2 years
  • Masters by research (with a duration exceeding 2 years) and PhD holder can stay upto 3 years
  • The Maximum eligible age to apply for PSW will be reduced to 35 years of age from 50 years of age for all applicants

Due to the Australian Indian Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement signed by the 2 countries, according to which:

  • Indian students completing bachelor degree including honours can stay upto 2 years
  • Bachelor degree with First class honours in STEM including ICT can stay upto 3 years
  • Masters by coursework in extended researched (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 3 years
  • PhD students can stay upto 4 years

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

Indian Higher Secondary School Certificate (State Boards)

  • Successful completion of Higher Secondary Certificate with a pass of 70% in best 4 core subjects

All India School Certificate (CBSE)

  • Successful completion of AISCE (CBSE) with an overall GPA of 60% in the best 4 core subjects

Indian School Certificate (ISC)

  • Successful completion of ISCE with an overall GPA of 60% in the best 4 core subjects

Nepal

  • Nepalese Higher Secondary Certificate with a grade of 80% (Year 11+12) (pre-2018) or Nepalese Education Board Year 12 with GPA 2.9 in best 4 academic subjects or Nepalese Proficiency Certificate (10+3) with an average grade of 75% and Nurses Registration (Nursing only)
