Bachelor of Finance, Economics and Statistics (Honours)
The Bachelor of Finance, Economics and Statistics (Honours) is an elite four year honours degree. The degree is targeted at excellent undergraduate students seeking a quantitative degree program that will equip them for graduate studies in Finance, Economics or Statistics and/or that will make them desirable to prestigious Government or Industry employers. The degree will fill a gap at the ANU by providing an attractive option for outstanding undergraduates who are seeking a quantitative degree program that has applications in a wide range of business areas. The degree will comprise courses from Finance, Economics and Statistics and also relevant courses from Mathematics.
Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion, students will have the skills and knowledge to:
- Determine which financial models should be utilised to analyse and price financial assets.
- Demonstrate their understanding of the economic foundations of financial assets as claims on resources in various market and corporate settings to design financial instruments and strategies.
- Adapt time series statistics and financial econometrics to evaluate financial economic models.
- Demonstrate the skills necessary to critically engage with and evaluate financial economic problems.
- Evaluate key research questions as demonstrated through a process of planning, developing and executing a body of research work.

Our Acton campus is in the heart of Canberra - Australia's capital city - in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT). From here it's an easy walk, bike ride or drive to some of Australia's most significant political and cultural institutions including Australian Parliament House. Applicants who complete a recognized secondary/senior secondary/post-secondary/tertiary sequence of study will be assessed on the basis of an equivalent selection rank that is calculated upon application. A score of 70% or more with no section less than 65%
Academic IELTS An overall score of 6.5 with a minimum of 6.0 in each component of the test.
TOEFL paper based test A score of 570 with a TWE* score of 4.5.
TOEFL internet based test An overall score of 80, with a minimum of 20 in Reading and Writing and 18 in Speaking and Listening.
Cambridge CAE Advanced (Post 2015) An overall score of 176 with a minimum of 169 in all sub-skills.
PTE Academic An overall score of 64 with a minimum score of 55 in each of the communicative skills.
At a minimum, all applicants must meet program-specific academic/non-academic requirements, and English language requirements. Admission to most ANU programs is on a competitive basis. Therefore, meeting all admission requirements does not automatically guarantee entry.
