Civil Engineering (MEng)
The MEng in Civil Engineering is a course-based program that increases technical knowledge in the design of built facilities, their construction processes, their operation and maintenance and their impact on the surrounding environment. The Department of Building, Civil and Environmental Engineering, offers comprehensive programs in building and civil engineering. The program is designed to strengthen specific areas of knowledge gained at the undergraduate level and to provide an introduction to graduate research.

Sir George Williams (Quartier Concordia)
The Sir George Williams (SGW) Campus is located in the bustling core of downtown Montreal. The campus is made up of nearly 40 buildings, from century-old row houses to steel and glass high-rises. With a metro station (Guy-Concordia) and a bike path at the centre, SGW is in the middle of the action with endless cafes, restaurants and shops to explore between classes. Here’s your urban university experience! SGW is also home to many student services and facilities, including the Webster Library, our fitness centre Le Gym, the Student Success Centre and the International Students Office.

PSW Opportunity
If your program was less than 8 months
- You aren’t eligible for a PGWP.
If your program was more than 8 months but less than 2 years
- We may give you a PGWP that’s valid for up to the same length as your study program.
For example, if you completed a 9-month program, we may give you a work permit for up to 9 months.
If your program was 2 years or more
- We may give you a PGWP that’s valid for 3 years.
If you completed more than 1 program
- You may be able to get a PGWP that combines the length of each program.
Each of the programs you completed -
- must be PGWP-eligible and at least 8 months in length
Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent with high standing.
Consideration will also be given to candidates with a degree in a cognate area with high standing; such students may be required to enroll in an extended program. In particular, applicants with a bachelor’s degree in architecture will be considered for the MASc in Building Engineering.
Proficiency in English. Applicants whose primary language is not English must demonstrate that their knowledge of English is sufficient to pursue graduate studies in their chosen field.
