Accounting: Diploma

The Accounting Diploma program prepares graduates for entry-level accounting positions in the work force or to continue their studies at KPU in the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Accounting.

The Diploma program includes courses in financial accounting, management accounting, finance, taxation and auditing. Graduates will also take courses in economics, business math, business statistics, simply accounting, information management, English and communications. The Accounting Diploma is carefully aligned with the requirements of the CPA accounting designation.

Some unique features of this program are:

Applied projects and assignments to ensure graduates acquire the practical skills valued by employers.
A large offering of courses in Richmond, Surrey and Langley during the day and evenings for Fall, Spring and Summer semesters to ensure maximum flexibility in schedules.
Opportunities for accounting-related employment (through Career Services and Cooperative Education while earning a diploma.
The opportunity to join the Accounting Society of KPU (ASK) student club, providing regular exposure to CPA representatives.

Placements range from public accounting firms to internal bookkeeping and accounting positions in service companies, manufacturing, retail and merchandising management, banking and financial services, government, and the not-for-profit sector. Students in the Accounting Diploma have the option of pursuing entry-level accounting positions or continuing their education with degree studies leading to a professional accounting designation.

You aren’t eligible for a PGWP.

If your program was more than 8 months but less than 2 years

We may give you a PGWP that’s valid for up to the same length as your study program.

For example, if you completed a 9-month program, we may give you a work permit for up to 9 months.

If your program was 2 years or more

We may give you a PGWP that’s valid for 3 years.

If you completed more than 1 program

You may be able to get a PGWP that combines the length of each program.

Each of the programs you completed -

must be PGWP-eligible and at least 8 months in length

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

To be admitted as a student in an undergraduate program, you must show that:

You meet KPU’s Undergraduate English Proficiency Requirement
You have graduated from high school (secondary school) or completed 24 or more undergraduate-level credits with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0*
