BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING, ACCELERATED B.CHE/MS BME

The accelerated program in biomedical engineering enables students to earn both the Bachelor of Chemical Engineering and the Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering at CSU in approximately 5 years. Students are eligible to apply for the program after they have completed 75 credit hours, typically at the end of the junior year (with at least 30 credit hours at CSU), and they have shown appropriate progress in their degree program. Once admitted to the combined program, the student may complete up to twelve (12) credit hours of graduate courses while enrolled in the undergraduate program. Nine (9) of these credits will count towards both the undergraduate and graduate degree requirements.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

Students must maintain a 3.25 or higher GPA to remain in the program. Courses which will be applied to both the bachelor's and master's degrees must be taken at the 500 level.

The courses that can be applied towards both the bachelor's and master's degrees are described below:

  • BME 553 Cell and Tissue Biology (Fulfills three credits of the advanced science/chemistry elective requirement of the Bachelor of Chemical Engineering program)
  • BME 570 Biomedical Signal Processing (Fulfills three credits of the technical elective requirement of the Bachelor of Chemical Engineering program)
  • Any 5xx elective from the approved list of BME electives (Fulfills three credits of the technical elective requirement of the Bachelor of Chemical Engineering program)

Transfer Requirements:

  1. Cumulative GPA of 2.0 at all previous colleges and universities combined for most programs. The College of Engineering requires a 2.2 and the College of Education and Human Services requires a 2.5.
  2. Proof of English proficiency.
