MSC HEALTH PSYCHOLOGY

The MSc Health Psychology course provides the initial step towards gaining Chartered Psychologist status with the British Psychological Society (BPS) and registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Health Psychologist.

You’ll gain theoretical and empirical knowledge in all the major fields as required for Stage I training in Health Psychology. Following successful completion of this course, you will be eligible to progress to Stage 2 doctoral-level training, leading to becoming a Chartered Psychologist and HCPC registered Health Psychologist.

By the end of the programme, you'll have an extensive overview of the field of Health Psychology, the skills and knowledge to enable you to research the domain of Health Psychology, and an awareness of different disciplinary perspectives on health and health-related issues.

The programme also provides the theoretical tools and methodological techniques necessary for those wishing to conduct Health Psychology research (including doctoral-level research).

Bishop Otter Campus

Our Bishop Otter Campus in Chichester is set in beautiful surroundings with plenty of relaxing green space and a combination of attractive, historic buildings and excellent modern facilities. Back in 1839, the campus was founded by William Otter, Bishop of Chichester. 180 years later, the University still retains a strong sense of history as original parts still remain. Chichester is a beautiful city which offers a wealth of history and culture. It has many historical places to discover such as Chichester Cathedral, Market Cross and Chichester City Walls. Alongside its history, Chichester is surrounded by breath-taking sandy beaches with East and West Wittering beaches only 20 minutes away from campus. The South Downs National Park begins just 1.5 miles from our Chichester campus. From rolling hills to bustling market towns, the South Downs National Park's landscapes cover 1,600km² of breath-taking views and hidden gems. With Brighton, Portsmouth and Southampton all under an hour away, the University of Chichester is perfectly placed for exploring the south coast.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

Postgraduate

Bachelor of Arts / Science / Commerce from a central university, recognised state university
OR

A centre of advanced study, 3 or 4 years duration– Minimum 50% Average percentage of final 2 years result used.
MPhil or PhD

The normal requirement for an MPhil is a good honours degree (First or Upper-Second class) or a relevant Masters degree. For a PhD the normal entry requirement is an MPhil.

Chichester runs a Pre-PhD Research Study Programme whereby applicants register for six tutorials at low cost in order to carry out various feasibility studies, including some testing of interest, materials, methods and resolve.

International applicants need IELTS 6.5 (with no element less than 5.5) for most postgraduate programmes.

(You can join our Pre-Master's programme with IELTS 5.5 and progress to MSc International Business. Social Work and PGCE programmes require IELTS 7.0).

Degree: honours degree at 2:2 or higher in a related discipline.
