MSc in Applied Artificial Intelligence and User Experience

Learn to design and interrogate AI systems with a deep understanding of human behaviour that improves their user-friendliness. With the dependence on digital automation and remote working greater than ever, so the world needs people with skills in the AI and UX field.

We’re the UK first university to offer a Masters degree bringing together Artificial Intelligence (AI), User Experience (UX) research and applied psychology. As well as gaining a thorough understanding of Data and AI techniques, you will ground theoretical concepts with practical applications.

We teach you how:

  • To apply psychology to AI principles.
  • To enrich the design of AI solutions through good practice UX.
  • To use Data, AI and applied psychology to develop prototypes.
  • Using data and AI to show deeper insights into human behaviour and psychology, you will also focus on the ethical responsibilities of developing AI applications for commercial use.

This course is practical, and features projects, assessments and prototypes alongside internships and work placements where possible.

When you graduate as an AI specialist, you’ll have a solid grounding in Data and AI techniques and specialist knowledge and skills in psychology and UX. The aim is to create the next generation of AI talent. Both the UK and Scottish Governments have urgently called for an increase in Data and AI skills, and the need for talented AI professionals is growing every year. 

To apply you’ll need scripting expertise and an undergraduate degree in Engineering, Computing, Game Design and Development, Physical, Natural, Life or Biological sciences.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

Academic Requirements
Applicants will typically require a Bachelor of Arts / Science / Commerce / Professional Subject with a minimum GPA of 2.9 (4-point scale) or 55-65% in the field of accounting, finance and business.

Applicants should have a desire to focus on management accounting and progress towards a professional qualification with CIMA.

English Language Requirements
All courses at Abertay University are taught in English. If your first language is not English, you will need to demonstrate that you meet our English language requirements. Accepted English language qualifications include:

IELTS - overall score of 6.0 with no band lower than 5.5

TOEFL - overall score of 78 (individual elements: L-17, R-18, S-20, W-17)

Cambridge FCE/CAE/CPE - overall score of 169 on Cambridge Grading Scale
