PhD, MPhil Chemical & process engineering
Our research uses advances in science and mathematics to develop solutions to challenges faced by industry and society. These challenges include manufacturing medicines, delivering clean water and providing renewable energy.
We research areas from the controlled assembly of nanostructured materials to the design of advanced reactors, and from combating global warming with novel energy storage and gas separation technology to understanding protein aggregation in degenerative diseases.
We have strong links with other engineering and science departments both within Strathclyde and externally. We also work with many industrial partners.

Job Opportunity Potential
Graduate employers not only ask for a degree qualification, they expect job applicants to bring a range of skills that they have gained outside of their studies, e.g. through work experience, volunteering, part-time jobs. Strathclyde University Careers Service will be happy to help you to prepare for your future graduate career once you become a member of Strathclyde University.
At some stage we all make choices about the career path we will follow. We can help you with this process if:

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
For entry to Strathclyde postgraduate programmes, we'd look for a first-class undergraduate degree (approx 60%) from a recognised Indian institution.
Although 60% is a general entry requirement we understand that the marking system in some of the states and national universities make it harder to achieve 60%, therefore we will accept 55% from University of Mumbai, University of Calcutta, University of Delhi etc.
Graduates from the IITs and IIMs will also be considered with marks in the region of 55%. If you wish to apply for a research degree you'd normally have to have a Masters degree and some experience of research work.
IELTS requirement is 6.5
