Bachelor Of Communication
This Bachelor Of Communication degree course with a double major in Public Relations and Strategic Communication and in News and Digital Media is accredited by the Public Relations Institute of Australia (PRIA). So, all students will have the association’s e-membership that allows them to access PRIA's online resources, including Golden Target Award case studies, the Asia-pacific PR Journals, industry news, blogs and free entry to webinars.
Students will gain a solid understanding of the theory and practice of communication in a global environment which is both complex and rapidly changing. They will learn to work creatively and analytically in the communication and cultural industries, and for further study and research in the discipline.
Students will also automatically become student members of the UONS Student Chapter of the Institute of Public Relations of Singapore (IPRS) until they complete their studies. Student members get to experience industry visits and IPRS hosted events on an annual basis.
About Public Relations and Strategic Communication Major
The Public Relations and Strategic Communication major addresses key needs and changing demands in the industry and broader employment, including social and multi-media content creation and the ability to critically analyse (big) data, while continuing to deliver strong traditional stills including strategic planning as well as written and oral communication skills.
About News and Digital Media Major
The internet has had a major impact on traditional forms of media distribution that has affected many communication industries, including journalism. But there remains a global need for stories to be told in a variety of formats by journalists, skilled in the craft of writing, analysing and reporting. The News and Digital Media major provides you with the opportunity to develop practical skills and knowledge that is relevant to the contemporary journalism landscape.
PRISM Awards 2019
Outstanding PR Project - student category
At this year’s edition of the PRISM Awards organised by the Institute of Public Relations of Singapore (IPRS), the following final year Bachelor of Communication students (Roziana Cindy, Karisma Zulkifli, Maria Alejandra Marin, Ni Nyoman Nindya Karinnya) won an award for "Outstanding PR Project - student category” for a Public Relations project that they completed on behalf of a not-for-profit organization (a home for the elderly run by a Muslim group).

PSW Opportunity
- The International Students studying in certain institutions in Singapore are allowed to work part time for 16 hours per week as mentioned on the Ministry of Manpower website of Singapore.
- Students who have studied in the institutions mentioned on the Ministry of Manpower website of Singapore are allowed to apply for a Long Term Visitor Pass.
- They are allowed to look for a job during this time period.This is for 12 months.If the students get a job during this time period, the employer may sponsor for an Employment pass.
Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
Language Proficiency
GCSE English Language or Literature with a minimum grade C; OR
IGCSE A-level English or Humanities with a minimum grade C; OR
IELTS (Academic) score of 6.5 with no individual band score less than 6.0; OR
TOEFL Internet-based Test with a minimum score of 79; R: 19, L: 20, S: 20 and W: 24; OR
Pearson Test of English Academic (GSE) with a minimum overall score of 58 with section minimum no less than 61; OR
PSB Certificate in Academic English (PSB CAE) with a minimum score of 65% in 3 of the 4 exams. Only one exam may be in the 60 to 64% range.
