Job Opportunity Potential
The University of North Texas currently employs over 5,000 students through one of three types of employment: 1) Regular Hourly jobs, 2) Work Study positions, 3) Eagle Internships. Working at UNT is ideal for students due to convenient location, flexible scheduling, social networking, and the opportunity to develop relevant, transferable skills.
1. Hourly Student Employment
• All UNT students are eligible for Hourly Student Employment jobs.
• 100% of the paycheck is funded by the hiring department.
• Students are allowed to work up to 25 hours a week.
• Minimum pay is $7.25, but positions may start at a higher rate.
2. Work Study Positions
• Open to UNT students who have received and accepted Federal Work Study in their University of North Texas Financial Aid Package.
• 30% of the paycheck is funded by the hiring department, and 70% is funded by the federal government.
• Students are allowed to work up to 20 hours a week.
• Minimum pay is $7.25, but positions may start at a higher rate.
3. Eagle Internships
• Open to all UNT students.
• Paid On-Campus Internship in a department related to the student’s major (eligible for Work Study).
• Minimum of 10 weeks.
• Typically, one semester but potential to extend for an additional semester.
• Only 30 positions on campus.
• Students receive 30 hours of Professional and Personal Growth Programming.
• Students may also use this program for academic credit (subject to requirements of major/college).
PSW Opportunity
Post-Study Work visa or permit, allowing international students on F-1 visas to work in the US after completing their studies, typically through Optional Practical Training (OPT).
Eligibility:
To be eligible for OPT, students must have been enrolled full-time in a US educational institution for at least one academic year and be seeking work related to their major.
Duration:
Students can apply for up to 12 months of OPT, either before they finish their studies (pre-completion) or after graduation (post-completion).
STEM OPT:
Students in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields can apply for an extended OPT period of up to 24 months.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
IB (International Baccalaureate)
Grade 5 or above on the Higher-Level English A1 subject
College Level English courses
Students must complete two college-level, academic English courses and earn a total of 6 credit hours with a grade of C or better in BOTH courses at an accredited college or university in the U.S. or one of the above listed English speaking countries.
Earned College hours
Completion of 30 hours of college-level, academic coursework with an overall GPA of 2.25 at an accredited college or university in the U.S. or one of the above listed English speaking countries. Student must be enrolled at the time of application and must have maintained continuous enrollment prior to their transfer to UNT to meet this requirement.
Achieve a Qualifying Score on an English Language Proficiency Test Accepted by UNT:
Arrange to have official test scores sent to UNT.
UNT test score reporting code (TOEFL, SAT, GRE/GMAT): 6481
TOEFL/IELTS scores must have been taken in the last 2 years. The only exception when a student can submit a score for a test taken more than 2 years ago is if the student has been continuously studying at a college or university within the U.S
