What You’ll Learn

The career-focused Physician Assistant Studies, M.S. provides you with a strong foundation in science, medicine, research, and transcultural patient care as you build your professional network and prepare for the Physician Assistant National Certification Examination.

You’ll benefit from working closely with our highly-skilled faculty with a combined 70+ years of clinical practice experience in a broad range of disciplines, from family medicine and general surgery to gastroenterology, obstetrics and gynecology, psychiatry, pediatrics, and more.

You’ll also benefit from a number of cutting-edge facilities, including the Institute for Clinical Competence with robotic simulation models and well-trained standardized patients, as well as a state-of-the-art anatomy lab.

You’ll spend an entire year immersed in clinical rotations, gaining actionable experience in well-rounded, challenging, and diverse clinical environments that prepare you for real-world challenges. Rotation spots include outstanding hospital systems and private practices in New York City and Long Island, with flexibility for out-of-state/home-state options.

PSW Opportunity

Post-Study Work visa or permit, allowing international students on F-1 visas to work in the US after completing their studies, typically through Optional Practical Training (OPT).

Eligibility:
To be eligible for OPT, students must have been enrolled full-time in a US educational institution for at least one academic year and be seeking work related to their major.

Duration:
Students can apply for up to 12 months of OPT, either before they finish their studies (pre-completion) or after graduation (post-completion).

STEM OPT:
Students in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields can apply for an extended OPT period of up to 24 months.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

Standardized Test Scores: Official scores from the GRE, GMAT, MAT, or other exams should be sent directly to the Office of Graduate Admissions if they are applicable to program requirements. Official final test results must be submitted directly from the testing agency.

Letter(s) of Recommendation: Letters of recommendation may be required. Check specific program requirements for more information. All letters of recommendation must be dated, signed by the recommender, and printed on official organization/school letterhead.
English Proficiency: International applicants who have studied at a foreign university must provide proof of English proficiency. Applicants are required to submit the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), as administered by the Educational Testing Service, the Pearson PTE Academic Exam, Duolingo English Test, or an examination deemed to be equivalent by the Office of Graduate Admissions. Official final proof of English test results must be submitted directly from the testing agency.
