What You’ll Learn
In the Graphic Design, B.F.A. program, you’ll produce work that demonstrates artistic expression, technical proficiency, and well-informed conceptual ideas.
You’ll take courses in areas from advertising and editorial to information graphics, logos and branding, motion graphics, packaging, typography, and web and interactive design and emerge with a portfolio of work that will demonstrate your professional readiness to future employers.
You’ll gain proficiency with the latest applications and technology—including Adobe Creative Cloud, 3-D printers, and laser cutters—and how to use them in the creation, reproduction, and distribution of visual messages.
Through internships with local agencies and design firms, as well as projects (both individual and collaborative), you’ll prepare to tackle the real-world challenges of being a career-ready graphic designer.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
Portfolios
Portfolios should include assignment-based projects and/or self-directed work that demonstrate art, design, and conceptual thinking skills. The artwork should be original and cannot be reproductions of already existing artwork or designs.
Portfolio Requirements
- 9 to 12 original artworks including but not limited to painting, printmaking, mixed media, sculpture, animation, storyboards, character design, mixed media, collage, and drawing (self-portraits, figure drawings, object studies, still life, and landscapes). No more than five digital artwork and computer-generated images may be included.
- A description sheet that includes the following information for each submitted artwork: title, medium, dimensions, date of creation, running time (if applicable).
Copies of transcripts of all high school work, including college-level courses. Your mid-year and final grades will be required. All final, official transcripts must be received prior to the start of your first semester.
