Technical Diploma (TD) in Truck Driving

There is a strong demand for professional truck drivers, and this program can help you prepare for an exciting career on the road. As a professional truck driver, you are responsible for the safe, efficient delivery of goods between locations. You'll have lots of time behind the wheel learning how to maneuver trucks into tight parking spaces, through narrow alleys and up to loading platforms. You'll develop backing and driving skills through classroom, lab, range and roadway experiences. You'll also cover communications with fellow drivers, dispatchers, shippers, mechanics and law enforcement personnel. In addition, you'll learn how to complete the necessary paperwork and appropriate inspections. You'll have the skills, knowledge and certifications you need to earn your Class A commercial driver's license (CDL) and start your career.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

Reading Assessment

A Reading assessment is required for this program; provide one of the below to satisfy this requirement: -High School GPA of 2.75 within last 10 years -Completion of Associate’s Degree or higher -165 on 2014 series GED tests -14 ACT Reading within last 3 years -54 Accuplacer Reading within last 3 years -237 Next-Generation Accuplacer Reading within last 3 years -TABE test – 536 IF SCORES ARE BELOW THE REQUIRED LEVELS, PROGRAM PREP MAY BE REQUIRED

Provide TOEFL scores. TOEFL scores are NOT needed if enrolling into the Intensive English Program.

Minimum TOEFL scores needed for entering an Associate in Applied Science Degree Program:
- 520 on the paper-based test
- 190 on the computer-based test
- 68 on Internet-based test
Non-native English speakers who meet the minimum TOEFL requirements should enroll in ‘Bridge’ courses during the first

semester at Fox Valley Technical College. ‘Bridge’ courses receive additional assistance from an English as a Second Language (ESL) instructor and are designed for students transitioning from ESL to non-ESL courses
