Technical Diploma (TD) in Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic
This diploma program equips you for advanced life-saving service to your community. Paramedics provide efficient, emergency pre-hospital care and continue care during transport. You’ll learn to assess the patient, provide advanced airway management and deal with a variety of medical emergencies. You’ll also learn to administer nebulizer treatment and life-saving drugs, and provide care for trauma patients, including infants and children. Your training will also cover legal and ethical issues, effective communications and medical terminology. Lab practice, scenario-based exercises and supervised experiences with actual patients will help you prepare for the National Registry certification examinations and qualify for Wisconsin licensure.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
Skills Assessment
An academic skills assessment is required for admission into this program or the following: High School GPA of 2.75 or higher (last 10 years) OR provide completion of associate’s or higher degree OR; 165 or higher on your 2014 series GED tests OR; ACT OR SAT OR Accuplacer OR Companion OR Compass (last 3 years) to waive to the general education level; The cost of the Accuplacer assessment is $15
Provide TOEFL scores. TOEFL scores are NOT needed if enrolling into the Intensive English Program.
- Minimum TOEFL scores needed for entering an Associate in Applied Science Degree Program:
- 520 on the paper-based test
- 190 on the computer-based test
- 68 on Internet-based test
- Non-native English speakers who meet the minimum TOEFL requirements should enroll in ‘Bridge’ courses during the first
semester at Fox Valley Technical College. ‘Bridge’ courses receive additional assistance from an English as a Second Language (ESL) instructor and are designed for students transitioning from ESL to non-ESL courses
