BSc Economics (Flexible)
Our Economics programme is designed to equip students with the key skills to operate effectively in several career areas in the global economic system, as well prepare them for higher study. By blending technical skills in econometrics, macroeconomics and microeconomic behaviour, together with real world policy applications in international trade, labour and financial markets, the degree provides a large range of areas to study with the vital connection to reality of the challenges of global economic system. There are also many optional choices built in to the programme that allow students to tailor their degree to suit their career paths or academic interests.
Graduates typically go on to higher degrees or careers in Banking and Financial Markets, Corporate Finance, Economic Consultancy, NGOs and Think tanks.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
Foundation entry requirements
In order to study at foundation level you will need to have undertaken 12 years of education and attained:
- Higher Secondary Certificate / Standard 12 (awarded on completion of Grade 12) with four subjects at 50%.
As proof of English language proficiency you would need one of the following:
- For September start an IELTS score of 5.5, with 5.0 or above in each section
- For January start an IELTS score of 6.0, with 5.5 or above in each section
The grades quoted above give an indication of a typical offer; at the Admissions Tutor’s discretion alternative qualifications or gradings may be considered. All applications will be considered individually and work experience and other interdisciplinary achievements are taken into consideration when deciding upon all applications. Applicants may also be invited to interview.
Undergraduate entry requirements
In order to study at undergraduate level (Bachelor’s degree), you will normally need to have attained one of the following:
- Three A-levels at grade B or higher
- IB score of between 29 and 34 (depending on the degree subject)
- 2 scores above 65% and 2 scores above 75%
*Applicants for undergraduate Law programmes are normally expected to have achieved additional qualifications, such as a first degree.
