BA (Hons) Acting
BA (Hons) Acting is your introduction to the performance industry. You'll hone your skills to stage and screen, working collaboratively as a part of AUB Productions and taking on roles in professionally produced student films.
This course is designed for students who have a passion for performance. We'll show you what it takes to turn natural talent into a sustainable career and we will support you to help make your ambitions become reality.
On BA (Hons) Acting, you'll get professional training to improve your acting skills and learn how to create performances for different audiences and contexts, providing you with the skills needed for creating performances in today's multimedia world. You'll work with other students on projects and films and your independent voice as an emerging artist will be developed and nurtured as you progress.
Placement : Option of a 1-year placement.
All undergraduate courses at AUB offer an optional placement year, to be taken between your second and third years of study.

This is why course teams ensure employability is embedded in your curriculum, and why we provide quality information and guidance to help you stand out and prepare you to embark on your professional future.
We also have a dedicated careers platform (AUB AdvantageCareer Hub) for students and alumni with careers resources, job opportunities and events. Students are also able to book an appointment with a Careers Coach.
Services we offer
The Careers and Employability team are Alison Zorraquin, Senior Employability Officer and Emily Rogers, Employability Officer.
Our goal is to support students and Alumni in preparation for working in industry and to develop their careers. We offer careers appointments and organise a series of events and workshops on campus, including:
- Lunchtime webinars: Run by the Career team, these workshops cover topics ranging from CVs to networking and using LinkedIn
- Industry Professionals on campus: Every year we invite professionals from Industry to give tips and advice about breaking into the creative industry as well as providing start-up and freelance advice
One-to-one Appointments
Any AUB student or graduate can book a one-to-one virtual appointment via Zoom or Microsoft Teams with Alison or Emily to discuss their plans or simply to gain information and advice on a wide range of topics including:
- Looking for graduate or professional roles and part-time work
- Applying for jobs and internships
- Writing a professional CV, cover letter or application
- Applying for further professional or post-graduate study
- Self-employment and freelancing

PSW Opportunity
- 2 Years PSW is applicable after completing a minimum duration of 9 months course (like- Undergraduate, Postgraduate Level)
- 3 Years PSW is applicable after completing PhD level courses.
Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
FOR INDIA
- 65% or above in Standard 12 from a recognised exam board.
FOR NEPAL
- Successful completion of a recognised foundation course or one year of degree level studies.
FOR SRI LANKA
- Achieve grades of BBB or above in the Sri Lankan General Certificate of Education.
FOR BANGLADESH
- Successful completion of a recognised foundation course or one year of degree level studies.
Studios and resources
BA (Hons) Acting students benefit from five specialist workspaces on campus including a fully equipped Studio Theatre and a sound recording studio. AUB also has its own theatre, the Palace Court Theatre, which offers further rehearsal rooms and performance spaces in central Bournemouth.
Portfolio guidelines
For the majority of our courses, we'll ask you to digitally submit a portfolio as part of the application process. We've created specific portfolio guidelines for each of our courses, you can take a look at these below.
Portfolios should show examples of your work – both finished and work in progress – that demonstrate your interests and skills.
If we ask for a digital portfolio then we'll give you 30 days to submit it. Sometimes we'll need a portfolio submitted quickly.
