Doctor of Philosophy and Master of Clinical Psychology
The School of Psychological Science is a leader in clinical psychology training, with half a century of experience combined with a strong commitment to ongoing program innovation in health care. This combined course is intended for students who wish to acquire the skills to practice as a clinical psychologist, whilst making an original and substantial contribution to knowledge concerning clinical psychology through their doctoral research.
This course synthesises Master of Clinical Psychology and PhD training across a four-year period of study. If you’re motivated to become future leaders in the field of clinical psychology by developing and combining high-level skills in clinical practice and research, this course is intended for you. You’ll develop skills in ways that will enable you to both engage effectively in professional practice and significantly advance the discipline.

Post Study Work Steam Renames to Post Higher Education Work Steam.
- Bachelor degree holders including honours can get upto 2 years of post study stay
- Master by course work and extended (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 2 years
- Masters by research (with a duration exceeding 2 years) and PhD holder can stay upto 3 years
- The Maximum eligible age to apply for PSW will be reduced to 35 years of age from 50 years of age for all applicants
Due to the Australian Indian Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement signed by the 2 countries, according to which:
- Indian students completing bachelor degree including honours can stay upto 2 years
- Bachelor degree with First class honours in STEM including ICT can stay upto 3 years
- Masters by coursework in extended researched (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 3 years
- PhD students can stay upto 4 years
Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
(1) To be considered for admission to this course an applicant must have—
(1) an accredited bachelor's honours degree in psychology with at least an upper second class Honours (2A), or an equivalent qualification, as recognised by UWA; and
(2) Applicants must be eligible for provisional registration as a psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia. and
(3) Applicants must have secured PhD supervision, with at least one supervisor from the School of Psychological Science at the time of submitting their application.
