Career Pathways
Graduates of the Master of Engineering (Software Engineering) will have achieved the higher levels of specialisation necessary to excel in their chosen field. Professional engineering skills developed throughout the course will reflect current industry standards in order to provide graduates with enhanced opportunities for advancement in their careers. New opportunities to progress into areas such as research and innovation in their field will also be possible following the completion of this course.

Post Study Work Steam Renames to Post Higher Education Work Steam.

• Bachelor degree holders including honours can get upto 2 years of post study stay
• Master by course work and extended (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 2 years
• Masters by research (with a duration exceeding 2 years) and PhD holder can stay upto 3 years
• The Maximum eligible age to apply for PSW will be reduced to 35 years of age from 50 years of age for all applicants

Due to the Australian Indian Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement signed by the 2 countries, according to which:

• Indian students completing bachelor degree including honours can stay upto 2 years
• Bachelor degree with First class honours in STEM including ICT can stay upto 3 years
• Masters by coursework in extended researched (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 3 years
• PhD students can stay upto 4 years

To be eligible for admission, an applicant is required to have:

• an Australian Bachelor of Engineering degree in the relevant discipline with a credit average (65 percent) or equivalent qualification, or
• an Australian Bachelor of Engineering degree in the relevant discipline or equivalent, and five years relevant professional work experience, or
• the relevant University of Sydney Graduate Diploma in Engineering or Graduate Certificate in Engineering with a credit average (65 percent).
