Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering)
The UNSW Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) is a four-year accredited engineering degree designed to equip you for a career as a professional engineer. You’ll harness your creativity, collaboration and critical thinking skills to design solutions for a better world and tackle complex technical and environmental challenges.
If you already know your preferred field, you can start directly in your chosen specialisation. If you’re still exploring, you can begin with a flexible first year and try out different engineering disciplines, before deciding what will suit you best. All students complete common core courses in mathematics, natural sciences and computing to build a strong foundation.
This program offers more than 20 engineering specialisations, ranging from traditional areas such as civil, mechanical, electrical and software, to emerging areas like quantum or renewable energy. The type of engineer you’ll become often depends on the specialisation you’ll choose, and in this degree, a world of choice awaits.

Post Study Work Steam Renames to Post Higher Education Work Steam.
- Bachelor degree holders including honours can get upto 2 years of post study stay
- Master by course work and extended (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 2 years
- Masters by research (with a duration exceeding 2 years) and PhD holder can stay upto 3 years
- The Maximum eligible age to apply for PSW will be reduced to 35 years of age from 50 years of age for all applicants
Due to the Australian Indian Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement signed by the 2 countries, according to which:
- Indian students completing bachelor degree including honours can stay upto 2 years
- Bachelor degree with First class honours in STEM including ICT can stay upto 3 years
- Masters by coursework in extended researched (with a duration exceeding 2 years) can stay upto 3 years
- PhD students can stay upto 4 years
Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
FOR INDIA
Indian Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE)
Awarded by CBSE, overall grade in best four externally examined subjects where A1=5, A2=4.5, B1=3.5, B2=3, C1=2, C2=1.5, D1=1, D2=0.5. Students also need to provide CBSE Admit Card.
Indian School Certificate
Awarded by ICSE, overall average from English and the best three externally examined subjects.
Indian State Boards (Indian Higher Secondary School Certificate)
Average of English and the 3 best subjects in the Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) in the states of Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka. India HSSC issued by other states are not accepted.
International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma or Bilingual Diploma
Entry criteria is based on scores required for entry into UNSW in 2021 and are only applicable if the Diploma has been completed. Students currently attempting the IB Diploma or Bilingual Diploma can apply directly to UNSW or through the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC)
