Master of Applied Science (Health and Disease)
Undertake research into the molecular basis of health and disease.
Research spans basic gene discovery and molecular analysis, through functional genomics and pre-clinical development to the testing of new therapeutics, underpinned by powerful and relevant experimental platforms.
Key areas of research include immunity, infectious diseases, developmental biology, exercise physiology and metabolism, musculoskeletal biology, hematology, cancer, metabolic disease, structural biology, and nanomedicine.
A Masters by Research degree is awarded for a substantial, original contribution to knowledge achieved in up to two years of full-time study (or two to four years of part-time candidature).

Admission requirements
Applicants are required to have completed at least a bachelor's degree, or comparable, of an acceptable standard from an approved university or other educational institution. Some degrees may have additional entry requirements, which you can find on the course pages in this guide. Masters degrees by coursework that include a research stream may provide a possible pathway to Ph.D. candidature.
Mandatory student checks
