Fashion Makeup (Higher National Certificate)

HNC Fashion make-up is a modern course with on-trend teachings in fashion and make-up. Push your creative potential as you learn essential make-up techniques to a professional industry standard. Not only will you focus on the make-up aspect; you will immerse yourself in all stages of a fashion-photoshoot or fashion-show. This will involve hairstyling and researching current fashion as well as exploring the rich history of the fashion industry. 

 This course is a mix of practical and theory-based learning where you will develop knowledge and skills in make-up application and be fully prepared to progress into a rewarding make-up career or further study at HND level. 

Campus Information

Granton Campus

Based in the North of Edinburgh, our Granton Campus is a modern, practical, accessible building, packed with state of the art facilities. Our ‘Learning Street’ corridors have study spaces and computers as well as an on-site library and resource centre so that our students always have plenty of places to work in groups or individually. The teaching spaces are equipped with data projectors and interactive whiteboards, bringing the most up-to-date technology into the classroom. The campus has fully equipped sports halls, as well as specially equipped spacious art studios, complete with the latest tools and materials to produce a wide range of creative work. Included in our range of excellent learning facilities at Granton Campus is Edinburgh College's Construction Centre for Excellence, based at the Forthside building on West Shore Road. We offer a wide range of modern and traditional construction courses – from glazing, carpentry and stone masonry to conservation and heritage construction skills. Granton also plays host to PASS - one of Scotland’s largest training providers in the performing arts, where many young actors, including Karen Gillan, have studied. The main student social area is known as the ‘Hub’ and is surrounded by a range of college facilities, including student services, the student union and one of our Hair and Beauty Training Salons. There are several places to eat too – as well as the College’s own training restaurant, The Apprentice.?

  • 12 years of school education with good results in subjects relevant to the course you apply for             
  • IELTS 5.5, with a minimum of 5.5 in each component band, or equivalent.
