Our LLB degree offers a unique approach to teaching and learning, adopting a flipped classroom model which increases flexibility by providing a permanent online resource to support you and encourage your learning journey. By studying with us, you'll be able to develop skills such as legal drafting (contractual clauses, defence statements), and advocacy (interim injunction applications) alongside developing your knowledge in the foundations of law.
In order to enhance your student experience, our law programme includes a diverse approach to assessment which incorporates a wide range of coursework and practical elements alongside traditional exams. Our techniques mean that 63% of our students secure a good honours degree!
Study abroad
This course also offers you the opportunity to study abroad in the Sandwich Year through the University's study abroad programme. The University has partnerships with universities around the world, including; in the USA, Canada, Latin America, South Africa, China, Korea, Japan, South East Asia and Australia.
Work placement
This course offers you the opportunity to undertake a placement, and we make sure that we have close links with a wide range of employers, such as law firms, local businesses, local authorities and more. Many of our alumni are also actively engaged with us to offer work placement and experience opportunities.
Campus Information
College Lane Campus
The main site of the university remains the College Lane campus, which houses the original Hatfield Technical College building. Notable among the buildings in this campus is the university's Learning Resource Centre, a combined library and computer centre. There is also a substantial collection of halls of residence and student houses, and the University of Hertfordshire Students' Union is headquartered at College Lane campus. The College Lane campus is also the location of Hertfordshire International College, which is part of the Navitas group, providing a direct pathway for international students to the University.

Job Opportunity Potential
Whatever career you’re building, your LLB Law is a great head start. Want to be a barrister? It’s recognized by the Bar Standards Board, getting you onto their professional course. Rather be a solicitor? It’s recognized by the Solicitors Regulation Authority as a qualifying degree. Like to be a paralegal? Get straight onto the National Association of Licensed Paralegals’ Level 7 Diploma.
If you complete certain modules, you’ll also be exempt from the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEx) Level 6 diploma – and able to jump into legal practice ahead of your peers.
You can also study for a master’s with us. Our LLM is the classic legal master’s, with lots of opportunities to specialize, while our LLM Legal Practice incorporates the Legal Practice Course (LPC) which you need to qualify as a solicitor – and gives you access to postgraduate funding.
Even if you don’t follow a legal career, an LLB really does open doors. Over 93% of our graduates are working or studying within six months of graduating*, going into law, local government, the police, management, HR, accountancy, teaching, and journalism.
