Diploma in Computer Technology
This course provides real-world skills for entry level computer service technicians and networking professionals. Extensive hands-on experience in the classroom combined with individual and group exercises ensures that students leave with the confidence and knowledge necessary to achieve their employment goals.
Our graduates must complete in-depth hands-on examination study in preparation for industry testing, learning the theory required for high demand industry certification from CompTIA, A+ and Network+. We provide all technical material and lab experience as well as practice exams prior to performing industry exams.
Many Tech programs teach “A+” but their students are not required to complete industry recognized exams, rendering the graduates unprepared and unemployable in industry. Cypress College graduates train and prepare for CompTIA testing and graduate job ready with valuable credentials that are industry recognized worldwide.
Our students are taught the interview skills to gain employment, the practical knowledge to retain employment and the social comprehension needed to excel in their career. In addition to preparing our students academically, we also help them hone job interview techniques, assist in developing a professional resume and cultivate the work expectations required in a modern business technology job.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR THE COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY PROFESSIONAL DIPLOMA
FOR STANDARD ADMISSION
Students must meet one of the following criteria:
- Alberta High School Diploma, verified by transcript, with 50% or better in a Grade 10 English and a Grade 10 Math or non-Alberta equivalent.
- (Alberta) High School Equivalency, of Grade 10 English and Grade 10 Math, verified by transcript, or non-Alberta equivalent.
And ALL of the following criteria:
- Successful interview with school admissions
- Successful result on a computer literacy test administered by the school
FOR MATURE ADMISSIONS
Students must meet ALL of the following criteria:
- Out of high school for two years
- Successful interview with school administration
- Successful result on an aptitude test administered by Wonderlic
- (Note. This test should measure high school equivalency to balance with the Standard Admission academic requirement of a High School diploma or equivalent.)
- Thirty-three credits towards an Alberta High School Diploma, verified by transcript, with 50% or better in Grade 10 English and Grade 10 Math, or non-Alberta equivalent.
Applicants whose first language is not English must demonstrate English Language Proficiency for admission to credit programs by presenting evidence of one of the following:
Successful completion of three years of full-time education in English:
Secondary and post-secondary education completed within Canada including the grade 12 year
Education in another country where English is recognized as an official language of instruction
Education at a recognized school or institution which uses English as the primary language of instruction
Successful completion of the equivalent of three years of full-time instruction in a school or institution in Canada where the primary or official language of instruction was not English, but where the level of English proficiency required for graduation is equivalent to that in English language secondary schools or post-secondary institutions in Canada
Completion of English Language Arts 10-1 or equivalent with a minimum grade of 60%
Successful completion of :
TOEFL minimum score of 550 paper-based, or 213 computer-based, or 80 (*91) internet-based
OR
IELTS minimum score of 6.5 (*6.5) overall, with at least 5.5 (*6.0) on each band score. You must take the Academic level of the IELTS test for admission purposes.
OR
CAEL minimum score of 60 overall, with at least 60 on each band score
OR
MELAB minimum score of 77 (*81) overall, with at least 72 (*78) on each band score
