Musical Theatre (BA)
Program Available at Cardiff Campus
This is the only Musical Theatre undergraduate program in Wales. All of our teaching staff are theatre professionals who work in higher education as well as the industry.
By working with industry professionals, the BA Musical Theatre will offer young performers an excellent, industry-relevant, focused course of study. The course teachers are committed to developing creative, independent, thinking artists; artists relevant to the industry.
UWTSD Cardiff wishes to see this course provide talented and focused professional graduates for stages across Wales and beyond. The course’s structure is ambitious and the experiences gained by the students will be rich, timely and varied, which will ensure they are prepared thoroughly for a Musical Theatre Career.

The Wales International Academy of Voice (WIAV), based in the vibrant city of Cardiff, provides a world-class conservatoire of voice within one of the UK’s leading centres of higher education and an opportunity to lead in a field in which Wales is historically preeminent and globally admired. In 2015 Canolfan Berfformio Cymru (CBC) was established offering performance study through the medium of Welsh. CBC now also offers English-medium programmes.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
- Typically a minimum of two A-Levels and/ or other Level 3 qualifications or equivalent. There may be some specific course requirements to be taken into account.
Academic Qualifications
An overall average of 70% or above in Indian Standard XII
English Qualifications
An overall English Language level equivalent to an IELTS score of 6.0 (or equivalent) with no lower than 5.5 in reading writing, listening and speaking
or
Indian Standard XII - 70% or above in English Language component, awarded within two years of applying to the University.
