Fashion Textiles BA (Hons)
BA (Hons) Fashion Textiles, at UCA Rochester, will give you the freedom to explore printed textiles through a wide range of design-led projects – from creating a catwalk collection to fashion-led interiors and textile art.
This fashion course sets itself apart from the rest by helping you become not only an excellent fashion designer but also a specialist in print design, developing an in depth understanding of hand and digital techniques. Our students are passionate about colour, texture, pattern and using the latest cutting edge techniques in their work.
If you want to work in the fashion industry and learn how to pattern cut, drape on the stand, work with a variety of fabrics, and make exciting garment collections, but can’t live without colour, pattern and print, then this is the course for you.
You'll have the chance to work on live industry projects with big brand names, including Alexander McQueen and Peter Pilotto, as well as exhibiting your work at shows including Graduate Fashion Week and the New Designers Exhibition.
You'll learn how to make a name for yourself in the industry, prepare for employment and graduate with a deep understanding of the business of fashion.
With our specialist digital textile lab, you’ll have access to high-quality print which can be applied to a wide variety of fabrics including cottons, silks, wools, synthetics and leathers.
The textiles print room has a dye lab, screen-printing tables, screen separation and preparation, fabric processing and cloth-dyeing equipment.
Our pattern and production workshops are equipped with pattern cutting tables, industrial sewing machines and embroidery machines.
Our graduates go on to secure positions at many leading fashion and textile brands such as Jimmy Choo, Monsoon, Debenhams and House of Fraser, working in many key sectors of the industry including: textile design for clothes and accessories, CAD design for printed textiles, interior and exterior print applications, design forecasting, fabrics and print products.
