Animation Four Year BA (Hons)
If your dream is to become an animator or to work in the animation industry, but you need to build a portfolio for a full degree, then our four-year BA (Hons) Animation course is the perfect fit.
You’ll spend a year gaining all the basic knowledge and skills you need to leap straight into the action for the three year course, which is one of the best-known and highly-regarded courses of its kind in the world, with an alumni featuring Oscar and BAFTA winners as well as creators of iconic animated characters such as Peppa Pig, Fantastic Mr Fox, Compare the Market’s ‘Meerkats’ campaign and Hey Duggee!
The key to the enormous success of this course and its graduates is the creative freedom students are given to discover and develop their own personal style, while being guided by a team of highly experienced and well-connected industry professionals.
So, whether you want to make animated films using CGI, traditional drawing, oil on glass, sand animation or pixilation – whatever your preferred medium - you will be encouraged to follow your passions and aim high for your future career in the industry.
Established in 1972 by Academy Award winner Bob Godfrey as the UK’s first course to take an academic approach to animation, we pride ourselves on giving our students a comprehensive understanding of frame-by-frame image manipulation using the growing range of creative techniques.
You’ll develop a deeper understanding of narrative, character development, movement, sound, and the full range of expressive and personal filmmaking techniques contemporary animation now uses.
As a long-established degree course, you can benefit from our extensive network of industry connections and including Agile Films, Aardman Animation, Cinesite, Nexus, Passion Pictures and Blackdog Film.
