Applied Drama: Education, Wellbeing, Community (BA)

Program Available at Carmarthen Campus

YEAR 1 - Challenge - you will develop your performance skills through play, voice, and body and digital arts. An introduction to Applied Drama will challenge you to consider the power of drama to change lives as you participate and develop your own Theatre of the Oppressed workshops

YEAR 2 - Explore - You will learn facilitation skills whilst exploring drama in different settings, such as schools and health and wellbeing. You will form a company to devise and tour your performance to a targeted audience outside of the University

YEAR 3 - Create - You have the opportunity to work with arts organizations, theatre groups, and schools. You really start to focus on your own skills and interests as you develop your projects and performances to take out into the community. Every year you will attend shows and events, have the opportunity to work with visiting theatre-makers and applied practitioners. We encourage you to build your professional networks by taking volunteer positions and work experience opportunities through our many links and partnerships in South Wales and beyond.

Carmarthen Campus

Our Carmarthen campus is a lively, friendly environment, centred on its original 1848 building. The campus boasts a range of facilities including a well-stocked library, a fully equipped theatre and workshops, music, media and IT suites and modern teaching spaces. The only Welsh language television channel in the world, S4C, has relocated its headquarters to UWTSD's Carmarthen campus. The public service broadcaster's new home, Canolfan S4C Yr Egin, is set to become a creative industries hub for the region.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

Typically a minimum of two A-Levels and/ or other Level 3 qualifications or equivalent. There may be some specific course requirements to be taken into account.

Academic Qualifications

An overall average of 70% or above in Indian Standard XII
English Qualifications

An overall English Language level equivalent to an IELTS score of 6.0 (or equivalent) with no lower than 5.5 in reading writing, listening and speaking
or

Indian Standard XII - 70% or above in English Language component, awarded within two years of applying to the University.
