This double degree program enables school leavers without an undergraduate degree to pursue a career in medicine. The program provides a high standard of academic, clinical, and professional medical training to equip graduates with the skills necessary to take up positions as hospital interns and thereby qualify for medical registration in Australia.

To qualify for registration with the Medical Board of Australia, on graduation you will need to complete a year as a hospital intern. Internship allocations in South Australia are managed by South Australian Medical Education and Training.

PSW Opportunity

International students studying at Flinders University will be eligible to access an additional year in Australia on a post-study work visa, which means a bachelor graduate can get up to 3 years of PSW visa.

India

International Qualification

  • Senior Secondary Schooling awarded by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), or the Council for the Indian School Certificate (ISC) Examinations

Minimum Entry Requirement (comparable to an ATAR of 65) to Flinders Bachelor degree

  • Completion of a CBSE School Certificate with an average of at least 65% in best 4 subjects (excluding local language) or completion of an ISC School Certificate with an average of at least 70% in best 4 subjects (excluding local language).

Nepal

International Qualification

  • Proficiency Certificate (3 years)

Minimum Entry Requirement (comparable to an ATAR of 65) to Flinders Bachelor degree

  • Successful completion of the Proficiency Certificate with a minimum grade average of 65% in 4 major subjects

Sri Lanka

International Qualification

  • Sri Lankan General Certificate of Education Advanced Level

  • Successful completion of A Levels. 

Applicants who meet the minimum Year 12 score or equivalent, will be invited to attend an interview.

The interview is semi-structured with a common set of scenarios and questions for all applicants. It is designed to assess qualities considered important both for success in medical school and in subsequent medical practice. These include:

  • Communication skills
  • Pro-social attitude
  • Personal management and self-evaluation skills
  • Quality of motivation.
Interviews will be conducted online and more details on times available will be provided in the invitation sent to eligible applicants.

Applicants must achieve a minimum Year 12 ATAR of 95.00 or above or an equivalent score from an equivalent qualification to be considered.

The selection for a place in the course will be based on performance in the interview. Should there be more eligible applicants than places available for the course, a selection will be based on a rank score combining their Year 12 (or equivalent) qualification score and their interview score.
