Occupational Health, Safety and Wellbeing Management MSc/PGDip

From helping to prevent work-related illness and stress to understanding how motivation can impact on health, the course is varied and constantly developing. You'll not only improve the quality of people's lives, but do so in an area where, owing to the very nature of the employer-employee relationship, it can often be hard for individuals to put their health first.

As well as gaining an in-depth understanding of your subject, you will also be a competent practitioner who is able to lead health, safety and wellbeing improvement in the workplace. You will develop legal, technical and scientific knowledge to enable you to recognise, assess, and problem solve risks. You will understand health and safety in high-risk industries including agriculture, construction, transport, and manufacturing, and will be able to develop an organisation's safety and wellbeing policy, respond to accident and ill health reporting, and improve your negotiation, advocacy, management, leadership, communication and teamwork skills.

All course tutors are practising consultants and have strong links with professional bodies, which ensures that you will be studying the latest developments and practices. Many are also active in research and you will be encouraged to undertake research which will be recognised within the industry.

If you do not wish to study the full MSc, you can apply to the PGDip where you study only eight modules, omitting the Dissertation.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

We accept the equivalent of the below qualifications from a recognised overseas qualification:

  • We normally require a second class honours degree (2:2 or above) or equivalent. We accept awards from a wide range of subjects including medicine, nursing, social science, education or law
  • We also consider candidates with NeBOSH Diploma and NeBOSH international Diploma or other relevant qualifications
  • Those without formal qualifications need to demonstrate three years' relevant work experience and the ability to study at postgraduate level.
