Healthcare Foundation Year

The Healthcare Foundation Year, is a yearlong, two semester course aimed at students who wish to begin their journey towards a career in the Health sector.

The course is designed to provide fundamental healthcare knowledge and skills, including academic, numeracy, IT and research skills. You will be taught by a range of professionally registered healthcare academics and be supported at every step of your course to ensure an enjoyable experience that will enhance your learning and future employment prospects. Their background, knowledge and experience in both practice and academia, and the emphasis and support of a research rich learning environment, will allow you to develop the confidence and skills needed for success on your chosen degree,

Upon successful completion of the Healthcare Foundation Year, you will be able to progress on to:

  • Integrated Health and Social Care BSc (Hons)

You will also be able to apply for one of the following courses, which are subject to professional body requirements:

  • Nursing Studies/Registered Nurse Adult BSc (Hons)
  • Nursing Studies/Registered Nurse Mental Health BSc (Hons)
  • Nursing Studies/Registered Nurse Learning Disabilities BSc (Hons)
