Sport, Physical Education and Health- BSc (Hons)
Sport and Physical Education at Cardiff Met has evolved in an exciting new way to take account of critical developments in the sport and physical education sector. The industry currently recognises the growing importance of health and wellbeing in promoting the physical, mental, and social development of children and adults.
This focus on health is a critical component of the Physical Education syllabus in contemporary schools across the UK and further afield. ?The Sport, Physical Education and Health degree will allow you to gain in-depth academic and practical knowledge of physical education and youth sport, and appreciate its issues and operational contexts. Analysis of the health and wellbeing agenda within physical education, will equip you with the skills and knowledge that will enable you to establish and influence the maintenance of healthy lifestyles in others. This will be achieved in a challenging but progressive way, in which the curriculum becomes more focused and specialised across the three years of the programme.
In addition to the comprehensive theoretical and practical academic framework, you will be encouraged to build a portfolio of UKCC coaching qualifications, work placement learning and experiences during your time at University. Cardiff Met offers on-campus opportunities for you to engage in, and has excellent links with Sport Cardiff, surrounding schools, and local authorities. You will have access to a wealth of valuable experiential learning opportunities including National Governing Bodies and community sports initiatives.

During your first year of study you will get the opportunity to undertake technical qualifications in a range of industry relevant areas. We will also support you to seek opportunities to work or study abroad. Work placements can give you a critical EDGE in gaining professional employment on graduation. Students who have graduated from Sport, Physical Education and Health have gone on to work in careers both within and beyond the sport and educational context.
Recent graduates from Sport, Physical Education and Health are now working as PE teachers (secondary), primary school teachers, and teaching assistants. Past graduates have also followed careers in further and higher education, sport clubs, sport science, leisure industry, and local authority/community sport development. Other students have continued onto further study at master’s and doctoral level or to undertake a Postgraduate Certificate in Education. ?
PSW Opportunity
- 2 Years PSW is applicable after completing a minimum duration of 9 months course (like- Undergraduate, Postgraduate Level)
- 3 Years PSW is applicable after completing PhD level courses.
Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria
For India
- Students with good grades in their Polytechnic / College of Technology Diploma (3- to 4-years in duration).
OR - Students with good grades in their Indian Certificate of Education - awarded on completion of Standard X AND who have completed a recognised Foundation Course.
OR - Students with good grades in their Higher Secondary School Certificates - Indian School Certificate (ISC) / Intermediate Certificate / Higher School Certificate / Higher Secondary Certificate / All India Senior School Certificate / Pre-University Course - awarded on completion of Standard XII
For Bangladesh
- Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) Intermediate with GPA 4.0 plus IELTS of 6.0 will be considered for Year 1 entry
- A-Levels or International Baccalaureate.
- American High School Diploma with GPA 3.0 (grade B average) plus one of the following:
- SAT 1 combined score of 1800 or above and a 6 score in the essay
- ACT (American College Test) score of 20 or above
- Advanced Placement Tests (Aps) with grade 3 or above in at least two relevant subjects
For Pakistan
- Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) Intermediate in Pre-Engineering or Pre-Medical stream with 60% pass
- Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) Intermediate Science/Humanities/Commerce stream plus recognised Foundation Course
- A-Levels or International Baccalaureate.
- American High School Diploma with GPA 3.0 (grade B average) plus one of the following:
- SAT 1 combined score of 1800 or above and a 6 score in the essay

Bachelor of Arts/Commerce/Science/Technology (two year) with 50% pass
For Sri Lanka
- Students with good grades in their Sri Lankan General Certificate of Education (Advanced level).

- who have completed a recognised Foundation Course.
OR - Students who hold a Diploma in Social Work / Higher National Diploma (HND) / Advanced Diploma in Social Work.
