Clinical Psychology and Mental Health, MSc

Our Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology and Mental Health will equip you with a high level of understanding of the theory and practice of clinical psychology within healthcare settings, preparing you for professional clinical training at doctoral level.

You will study core topics including eating disorders, psychopathy and sexual offending, neuropsychology, and psychotherapy, alongside key statistical and research methods.

Throughout your studies, you will refine critical research and analytical skills in relation to clinical psychology practice.

Singleton Park Campus

Travelling west on the M4 leave the motorway at junction 42 and follow signs for Swansea on the A483 (Fabian Way). On crossing the River Tawe the A483 becomes the A4067. Continue west along this road, passing Sainsbury’s Superstore on the left-hand side of the road. After approximately 1.5 miles there is a footbridge over the road. The University’s main entrance lies just before the footbridge and is controlled by traffic lights. As you approach the lights, keep to the right-hand lane and prepare to turn right into the University. There is a Visitors’ Car Park immediately right of the main entrance. There are large Park-and-Ride sites at Port Tennant and on the A483 east of Swansea, at Landore, on the A4067 north of the city. All sites are open from 7.00 am until 7.00 pm, Monday to Saturday.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

A 2:1 honours degree or international equivalent in psychology or a related subject with: 

  • A minimum of 50% of the modules within psychology
  • Evidence of having studied research methods and statistics
  • Evidence of completion of an independent research project

Applicants do not need to have completed a psychology degree recognised by the British Psychological Society (BPS) as Graduate basis for chartership (GBC). However, if applicants do not have GBC then they need to be aware that unless they obtain GBC from the BPS they will not be able to progress to a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology after completing this MSc.
