History and Politics BA Hons

Lancaster’s History and Politics degree is taught collaboratively between our Department of History and our Department of Politics, Philosophy, and Religion. It gives you the opportunity to develop knowledge, political insight, and specialist skills alongside students and scholars who share your passion and interests.

You’ll be able to select complementary modules from each department. So, for example, in History, you may choose to study the political and cultural history of the United States while exploring the Government and Politics of the United States in your Politics courses.

You’ll begin your degree with core modules including ‘From the Ancient to the Modern: History and Historians’, and ‘Politics in the Modern World’. In your second year and final year, your courses cover modules such as ‘Politics and History of the Middle East’; ‘Modern Political Thought: Liberty, Theory and Practice; Contemporary Issues in the Middle East; and ‘Britain in the World.’
