Join a well-established course in translation studies and develop advanced skills in practical translation.
Our MA offers a wide range of translation languages. Translation options are: from English into Arabic, Chinese, Polish and Italian or translation from Czech, Dutch, French, German, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish into English. We’ll help you develop your ability to translate from at least one language.
You'll learn the theories, methods and techniques of translation, and we'll introduce you to a range of specialist translation software essential for success in today's translation industry.
You can create your own bespoke course by choosing optional modules in literary approaches, technologies or different translation languages.
At Sheffield, you’ll become part of a translation community that has long-established connections with the industry. Sheffield is at the forefront of modern languages research, and teaching is informed by the latest developments in the field, including recent work that links the areas of translation and intercultural communication studies.
