BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Therapy

Sports and Exercise Therapists maximise peoples’ physical potential in performance, sports and life.
Accredited by the Society of Sports Therapists (SST), this course examines the musculoskeletal system, exercise physiology, treatment and rehabilitation skills with an emphasis on performance underpinned by sports science principles. On successful completion, you should be eligible for full SST membership allowing you to practice as a Sports Therapist in a wide variety of settings.

With access to a dedicated Sports Therapy Clinic, you’ll learn in fully-equipped sports therapy suites, and physiology and biomechanics labs, which feature gold-standard equipment such as Alter G treadmill, Isokinetic Dynamometry, bod-pod and Vicon 3D motion analysis. We have close relationships with a number of local sports clubs and clinics to facilitate hands-on experience, which has previously included Coventry City, Southampton FC, Leicester Lions RFC, Bury FC and Wasps.

Job Opportunity Potential

Some graduates from this course have gone on to work at high levels of professional and semi –professional sports such as Football, Rugby and Transplant Sport.

A number of graduates have gone onto lead successful careers within private practice, both owning and working within a range of Therapy clinics nationwide.

A proportion of graduates have also utilised their skills within the NHS in rehabilitation department.

Other recent graduates have gone to work as clinicians with practices such as Swan Physio Ltd, Body Logic Health, and as sports therapists for teams such as Watford FC and Aston Villa FC. Others have continued with postgraduate study on courses including the MSc Strength and Conditioning and MSc Manual Therapy.

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

Business Courses CU + CULC:

For general Business courses, students must achieve an overall score of 60% minimum in the Standard XII examination (no specific subject requirements).

For Finance, Economics and Accountancy courses – students must achieve an overall score of 60% minimum in the Standard XII examination (with 60% in Maths OR Accountancy OR Economics).

EC FACULTY:

Students must achieve an overall score of 60% minimum in the Standard XII examination. With 65% in Maths AND 65% achieved in another key subject relevant to the course applied for.

Note specific subject requirements for EC courses below.

Core Engineering courses:

Must have 65% in Maths AND 65% in one from Physics/ Chemistry/ Electronics/ Engineering/ Further Mathematics/ Computer Science/ Computing/ Design Tech.

IT and Computing related courses:

Must have 65% in Maths AND 65% in one from Physics/ Computer Science/IT/ Computing/Design Technology.

Technology Engineering related courses:

Must have 65% in Maths AND 65% in one from Design Technology/Electronics

Electrical Engineering related courses:

Must have 65% in Maths AND 65% in one from Physics/Chemistry/ Electronics/ Engineering/ Further Mathematics/ Computer Science/Computing/ Design Technology

OR

60% overall achieved in a 3 or 4 years Engineering or Technology Diploma.

HLS courses

Students must achieve an overall score of 60% minimum in the Standard XII examination with a minimum of 65% in the key relevant subject; i.e. Biology, Chemistry, Physics

60% in Standard XII English language from certain examination boards only (Central boards, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Uttarakhand)

OR

IELTS 6.0 overall with no component lower than 5.5 (except where course requirements are higher) and other acceptable SELT tests such as the Pearson Test of English (PTE).

Students not meeting the above can take the Coventry University English Test.
