BA (Hons)/HND/HNC Policing
With effect from 2020, all new officers will need to be educated to degree level in order to join the police force. This Policing degree is an employment-related qualification aimed at those seeking to establish a career in the police service.
This course has been purposefully designed to give you both an academic and practical understanding of policing, serving as a comprehensive introduction to the industry.
Year one of this course is designed to provide a broad introduction to the field of policing, focusing on basic knowledge of both the macro environment and the role of legislation in policing. You will develop key skills in decision-making and information management, providing you with a solid foundation for further exploration in years two and three. Students who complete year one are eligible for a Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Policing.
This academic year builds on the knowledge gained in year one to solidify knowledge of the core principles. After completing the HNC you are working at a higher level and you will begin to explore more serious offences from domestic abuse to drug trafficking. You will learn the causes, practices and solutions to some of the most dangerous and provocative crimes committed in the modern world. Students who complete year two are eligible for a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Policing.
