Doctor of Acupuncture & Chinese Medicine

Purpose

The goal of the Doctor of Acupuncture & Chinese Medicine and Master of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine (MAOM) program is to train you to become a licensed acupuncturist.

Overview of the Program

The 4-year Doctor of Acupuncture & Chinese Medicine program is one of the most comprehensive programs in acupuncture, herbology, and biomedicine.  The doctoral program includes 171 total credits and has a Master’s degree embedded. You will learn acupuncture and herbology extensively (361 regular points, 300 herbs, 200 formulas), along with tai-chi and qi-gong, tui-na, biomedical sciences, professional development, integrated medicine, clinical medicine studies, and clinical training.  In addition, the college has a very strong clinical training program that includes observation opportunities at Houston Methodist Hospitals and hospitals in China.

Accreditation

The Doctor of Acupuncture & Chinese Medicine program is approved by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.  The Master of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine program is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.  Upon completion of the Master’s degree, students will be eligible to sit in the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine licensure examination.
