Nursing with registered Nurse (Adult) OR (Mental Health) OR (Children and Young People), MSc

Studying the MSc Nursing (Adult, Mental Health or Children and Young People) programme will enable graduate students to practise effectively within a professional values base in a variety of health and social care settings: emphasising compassion, communication and dignity in care. You’ll gain an advanced understanding, knowledge and the skills required in becoming a first level qualified nurse with a sound portfolio of clinical and interpersonal skills, preparing you for your preferred career pathway.

Successful completion of this programme will lead to a dual academic and professional qualification:

Academic - MSc Pre-Registration Nursing (180 credits at Level 7)

Professional - Registered Nurse (Adult, Mental Health or Children and Young People) - registered with the NMC (Nursing & Midwifery Council)

*Please note the Nursing and Midwifery Council validated pre reg nursing programmes are no less than 3 years in duration unless prior recognised learning (RPL) is used.

PSW Opportunity

  • 2 Years PSW is applicable after completing a minimum duration of 9 months course (like- Undergraduate, Postgraduate Level)

Admission Requirement / Eligibility Criteria

55% in bachelor degree

70% in Year 12 English*
Or
70% average grade in Year 11 and Year 12 English provided Year 12 is not below 65%
Or
Standard English language entry requirements – IELTS 6.5 or equivalent

GCSE or O-Level English Grade C - Grade C

A Level English Language - Grade C

TOEFL iBT including Special At Home Edition - 88 (with minimum grades of 21 in each component)

UCLan Test of English Language Level (TELL) - Merit (75%) with no component below pass (65%)

Pearson Test of EnglishAcademic - 61 with minimum of 55 in each component

On entry to the programme, all applicants must meet the Nursing and Midwifery Council requirements for literacy, numeracy, good health and good character. Applicants will be selected based upon the following:

Assessment at Course Interview
Occupational Health Medical Screening
Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service criminal background check
Satisfactory Reference, indicating suitability for the course/field of nursing
In addition to the above selection criteria, all candidates must demonstrate achievement of the academic entry requirements, as follows:

1st Degree (2:2 or above) in health related subject
GCSE Mathematics (Grade C/4  or above) or equivalent
GCSE English (Grade C/4 or above) or equivalent
IELTs: overall score 6.5 with a minimum of 6.5 in writing, reading, listening and speaking or equivalent (to have been taken within 2 years before the course commencement date). For further information see NMC requirements.

FOR 2 YEARS PROGRAMME APPLICATION WITH RECOGNISED PRIOR LEARNING (RPL)
Please note the Nursing and Midwifery Council validated pre reg nursing programmes are no less than 3 years in duration unless prior recognised learning (RPL) is used.

RPL can be demonstrated by providing evidence of having undertaken and learned from a minimum of 800 hours relevant work as a health care assistant, support worker, voluntary or other caring responsibilities in relevant field  plus equivalent relevant theoretical learning that is commensurate with year 1 proficiencies

The intention to apply for RPL must be made on application to the course and more details about RPL application and evidence requirements will be provided following successful completion of an interview.
