Bachelor of Medicine (MB) of Surgery (BCh) and of Obstetrics (BAO)

Course Overview
Our undergraduate medical program delivers a systems-based curriculum which is horizontally and vertically integrated. Individual credit-bearing modules cover learning outcomes relevant to the scientific basis of medicine, patient assessment, and clinical management. Students enjoy early patient contact opportunities which help them to develop the required communication and practical clinical skills.

The modern, externally accredited, the programme is triphasic; Phase 1 comprises Foundation Year (6-year program only) and Year 1. Phase 2 includes Year 2 and Year 3. The final two years of the program constitute the 3rd phase which leads to the level 8 award of the degree of Bachelor of Medicine (MB), of Surgery (BCh) and of Obstetrics (BAO).

As students gain experience, they assume greater responsibility and undertake clinical placement rotations in a network of affiliated hospitals in the North and North West (Saolta Hospital Group). In addition, students are exposed to the delivery of primary care in a variety of community settings.
