Sports Journalism, BA (Hons)
Being a sports journalist can be one of the most exciting jobs around – and for many years, we have been helping people like you move into their dream career.
Our graduates have gone on to report on some of the world’s biggest sporting events, such as the Champions League, the Olympics and Wimbledon.
They have worked for employers such as the BBC, Sky, ESPN, Premiership football clubs, national and regional news organisations and many more across the world.
At UCLan, we will equip you with all the multiplatform skills you need to become a successful sports journalist and teach you how to thrive in the digital age. To be successful, you will need to work hard, but you will learn your practical skills in a fun, newsroom environment.
From day one, you will operate as a journalist. You will be given opportunities to go out and report on sports fixtures, press conferences and sports news events.

Preston
There are a variety of different ways you can access our Preston city campus, whether by rail, road or air. Preston is well served by the M6 motorway both north and south and excellent cross country rail links. There are also two major international airports in Manchester and Liverpool John Lennon.

Students who are made an offer for this course will be invited for interview and asked to take part in an entrance test in order to assess suitability for a career in journalism. Successful interview and entrance test will be part of your conditions of offer. This is a requirement of all Journalism programmes that are currently accredited by the National Council for the Training of Journalists. Applicants are sent further information by our Admissions Office regarding attending for interview and test.
Applicants who do not have English as their native language or a prior qualification delivered entirely in English will need to have passed the IELTS test at 7.5, with no component lower than 7.
