overview:
The MSc in Biomaterials provides you with thorough training in current clinically used biomaterials and state of the art advances in these in research. The clinical application module will cover generations of biomaterials in orthopedics and cardiovascular. In addition, it will aim to give an introduction to foreign body reactions to these materials. You will also be trained on advanced biomaterials including nanomaterials, natural materials, and soft matter. Further, we will also introduce techniques associated with the translation of research from the lab to the clinic. Additionally, there will be a 5 months long project component that will give you hands-on training on the development and testing of novel biomaterials. This MSc is the ideal preparation for a career either in the industry as a biomaterial scientist, or for cutting-edge academic research.
Manchester Engineering Campus Development (MECD), the University of Manchester's new £400m purpose-built home for engineering and material science, is nearing completion. The physical move to the new development is scheduled to take place between January 2021 and December 2021. Whilst it is anticipated that access to equipment or work on projects for which such access is required may be limited during the period of the move, plans are underway to ensure that any disruption caused is minimized, a wide selection of dissertation projects will continue to be available, and excellent student experience remains pivotal. If you have any questions about how the move may affect you, please contact pgt-materials@manchester.ac.uk
