Microelectronic Engineering BEng Honours (H611)

Microelectronic engineering is concerned with the design and manufacture of electronic devices made from silicon, such as integrated circuits and sensors, as well as the development of devices using new materials.
In Stages 1 and 2 you study a common syllabus, developing your expertise in electrical machines and electronic communications systems.

In Stage 3 you undertake a large individual design project - for example, developing a frequency synthesiser for wireless biomedical devices - to showcase your skills to future employers.

You complement this with specialist topics, such as:

  • nanoscale electronic devices
  • integrated circuit design

You complete design projects to showcase your skills to future employers, for example designing and building a robot to navigate around a room.
