Education BA Honours (X390)

On this degree you'll explore what education means and how it has changed over history, including its central place in modern society.

The study of education is essential in order to evaluate the opportunities and challenges that face humanity in the twenty-first century.
You'll cover education from a variety of perspectives – sociological, philosophical, historical, political, and psychological.

You'll also learn about education globally and investigate the role of international development in supporting education in developing countries.

You will face challenging questions, critically examining issues such as:

  • Who does schooling benefit?
  • How does the English curriculum compare with those in other countries?
  • What effect does resourcing have on educational outcomes in the developing world?
  • If Google knows more than the teacher, does the teacher still have a role to play?

Two major career development modules enhance your employability and a research project gives you the opportunity to showcase your knowledge and expertise. These assist our graduates to find work in areas such as primary teaching, community and social work and education management.
