Education Studies BA (Hons)

There is recognition that education is not confined to schools. Learning is to be found in a wide range of settings and institutions, such as the family, communities and the workplace. This idea will permeate your studies. Central to this programme is the examination of the idea that learning can take place in many different locations and many of these will be examined and evaluated. On our Education Studies course you will look back to consider how education has got to where it is today but also look forward to imagine the possibilities for the future of education. We’ll will equip you to open up subjects to new learners, to cultivate learning habits in others and to evaluate and innovate new methods of teaching.

Our course critically examines key issues in education and you will be challenged to consider political decisions, evaluate major education movements and express your own ideas and research findings. You will draw from a wide range of disciplines as you come to understand the processes at the heart of the education sector.
