Master of Music

The Master of Music (MMus) is designed to further develop your musical skills, enabling entry to a high-level career in many areas of music. At the masters level, you are able to specialize in one of four distinct areas – performance, composition, musicology or studio pedagogy.

You will have the chance to investigate your individual interests and talents, engage in independent thought about music and critically analyze the theories and practices that influence your discipline.

PSW Opportunity

  • During study, all students on a student visa can work up to 20 hours per week during semester and full time during vacations.
  • After completing Level 7 Bachelor’s Degree or Higher Qualification, a student will get a three years open post-study work visa.
  • After completing Level 8 Post Graduate courses of 1 year, students get 1 year PSW.

Minimum program requirements

  • Normally this requires a completed bachelor honors degree or postgraduate diploma from New Zealand, or an acceptable equivalent postgraduate qualification from a recognized university (or similar) overseas.
  • Bachelor of Music (Honours)
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Music
  • An undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline.
  • GPE 4.0
